OpenDrop Brings EV Diagnostics onto a Single Chip

OpenDrop has been featured in new research demonstrating its ability to streamline extracellular vesicle (EV) analysis—a rapidly growing area of biomedical research with applications in disease diagnosis and monitoring. Using OpenDrop, researchers combined magnetic bead-based EV isolation and on-chip ELISA detection into a single automated workflow, achieving results comparable to conventional laboratory methods while using much smaller reagent volumes and reducing hands-on processing. The study highlights how OpenDrop’s programmable, open-source design can simplify complex laboratory workflows, making advanced microfluidic techniques more accessible to researchers and supporting the development of future point-of-care diagnostic technologies.
