3D Printed EWOD Device

IMG_0214_2

Today in GaudiLabs with Wilhelm Hilger we made some first and very promising experiments with 3D printed electro-wetting devices. Wilhelm is doing his master theses on the topic. The test devices were printed with conductive PLA on a DIY 3D printer and coated with parafilm and silicon oil. We got to move some water droplets with 250 VDC. We are now looking forward to a next round of improved prototypes and are excited about the possibility that the combination of 3D printing and digital microfluidics offers.
